April 28, 2013

Hello everyone,
How is everyone doing? What is all the latest gossip from home? I don't know how I am gonna get people to keep writing me, I didn't even get a letter from my mom this week... Anyways, this week was really good and I got to do a lot of fun stuff, I also probably walked like 60 miles. After we had P-day in Bacolod, where I bought a new a camera which is a pretty nice Canon that only cost 150 bucks. We did a bunch of other stuff in Bacolod and we found a dunk'in donuts and Elder Sargent couldn't help but buy a dozen. But the donuts hear are definitely not the same as at home. I still have yet to find anything that is close to home here, but your letters and packages keep me going...  After we got back from Bacolod I had exchanges in Colonia Divinia which is an area way up on a mountain and i'm sorry but most of my pictures are of us walking there because the walk is about 3 hours. After exchanges, the next morning I broke my fridge so we don't have any thing cold anymore which seriously blows!!! Then on Friday we had the baptism of a lady named Andrea Piandoro. She is awesome. A couple sister missionaries gave her a book of mormon with their testimony in I a few months back and then she just started coming to church in our area. I introduced myself to her and we started talking and it turns out that she had already read the BOM twice and is working on round three right now. Her baptism and testimony was awesome an it was crazy what started from one missionary handing a book of mormon to an old lady. So that was rad and then on Saturday we had a service project at the beach. I thought that the beach would be a lot bigger temptation for me but there are no waves here and the water is pretty dirty in Old Sagay. The service project was really fun, we just cleaned the beach for a couple hours and then ate barbecued pork and rice. I know... surprise, surprise rice. But it was actually way good. It was pretty cool when the tide came up after that and there was no other way back to the town but through the water so we walked in waist deep water back to the town. I do miss the ocean. Other than that, my week was pretty normal, teaching and learning. I'm trying to improve everyday but its hard to watch time fly by and realize that I am not where I want to be. Its my six month mark and I am absolutely not fluent. I can say pretty much what I want but I have so much to learn in the language and in the gospel. But, the good part is that I have grown to love learning, I wake up excited for my studies every morning and I love reading and listening to the words of the prophets. There is so much to learn in the scriptures and I think that a lot of the time our reading is just to casual... Slow down when you read, think about the stories and the teachings, think about similar experiences in your life and about what you can do better and what the scriptures are trying to tell you from what you read. I have found that that is where my testimony is strengthened. Well, I love you guys and I am so grateful for your prayers and your support. Till next week...
